About the Episcopal Bishop’s Committee for Justice and Peace in the Holy Land
The Episcopal Bishop’s Committee for Justice and Peace in the Holy Land is a committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia and was first established in 2000.
As Christians called to fulfill the promise made in our Baptismal Covenant, to strive unceasingly for justice and peace, we are committed to working alongside our Jewish, Muslim, and Christian siblings toward a just and peaceful future for everyone in the Holy Land. Our work includes education and relationship-building within the Episcopal Church, as well as public advocacy for the rights and freedom of Palestinian people.

Our Work
- We partner with parishes across the Diocese of Olympia to promote education, conversation, and advocacy within their congregations about Palestinians’ ongoing struggle and lack of equal rights. Learn more about the Mideast Focus Film Series held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral in Seattle each year.
- We advocate publicly and pressure our elected officials in the United States to pass legislation supporting equal rights and freedom for Palestinians. In 2024, we’re sponsoring the “Stones Cry Out” Solidarity Delegation to Palestine & Washington, D.C.
- We advocate within the Episcopal Church, working to pass resolutions at the General Convention and advocate for boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS). In preparation for the 2016 General Convention, we published a collection of essays: You Can’t Say We Didn’t Know: Some Perspectives on Israel, Palestine, and the Conflict.
