I was in Bethlehem in December of 2019 at a Sabeel gathering. The Status of Bethlehem as a Christian presence in the Holy Land is being threatened. When I first visited Bethlehem in 1983 the Christian population was above 80%. It is now below 20%. 87% of Bethlehem land has been confiscated by the State of Israel. 122,000 settlers live in 22 illegal settlements according to international law surrounding Bethlehem.
